Peter, Paul and Mary were an American folk group formed in New York City in 1961 during the American folk music revival phenomenon. The trio consisted of Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers. They were enormously successful in the early- and mid-1960s, Their influence reaches a wider audience than any other folk group could ever hope to reach.

The group disbanded in 1970 and went their separate ways with little success, but reunited in 1978 to perform at an anti-nuclear concert, and have continued to write and release records ever since.
